HBO Films aired the film in 2016 to award-winning success, with Susannah Grant winning a WGA Award and Rick Famuyiwa winning an NAACP Image Award for directing. The film was also nominated for an Emmy as well as a Critics Choice Award. Kerry Washington was nominated for an Emmy, a Golden Globe, a Critics Choice Award and an NAACP Award for her portrayal as Anita Hill.
